Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the euro: design a poster and win a trip to Brussels!
Author: Johanna Snellman
10-14 year-old students from the euro area and Slovakia have until 31 December 2008 to design their posters for the Eurocompetition (www.eurocompetition.net). Besides the personal digital cameras for each national winner, the overall winner will be invited to Brussels where his/her poster will be presented at a press event in the presence of Mr. Joaquín Almunia, the Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.
During the three-day trip the winner will have the opportunity to meet officials from European Commission’s Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs and European Schoolnet, and to explore the capital of Europe with two accompanying persons (we recommend that one should be the teacher involved). The winner will also be offered a 'euro goody bag'.
The competition is open to 10-14 year-old pupils from the euro area and Slovakia, who are invited to create an original and creative poster on the topic of the 10th anniversary of the euro. The poster should combine visual expression - drawing, painting, photograph, digital art, etc. - with a short, clear message. All entries must be associated with a school and submitted through the Eurocompetition website www.eurocompetition.net, where they are shared in a publicly accessible online picture gallery.
