home > Media services > News > Turkish school wins 2008 eLearning Awards Turkish school wins 2008 eLearning Awards The eLearning Awards prize-giving ceremony took place in Rome on 4 December 2008 and awarded eight schools for their exceptional projects. The project “EuroPoems”, submitted by Elif Kara, from Hisar Egitim Vakfi Okullari, Turkey won the Young Digital Planet Award for outstanding teacher - first prize. Piotr Mroz, Executive Director of Young Digital Planet, awarded the teacher with a trophy, a cheque for € 3,000 and an interactive whiteboard set for her school. The Interwrite Learning Award for outstanding teacher - Second prize, was won by Miguel Roa Guzmán, a Spanish teacher from I.E.S. San Juan de Dios for his project "10 x 10 x 10". In total eight schools were awarded in this 2008 eLearning Awards with a total of € 40 000 in cash prizes and equipment worth a similar amount, provided by Interwrite Learning, SMART, Promethean and Intel. Intel Gold Award for Technology Joze Štrucl (Slovenia) from SERŠ Maribor for ‘Digi DT’ SMART Silver Award for Mathematics and Science Athanasios Tsagatakis (Greece) from 2nd Junior High School of Zefyri for ‘Reduce - Reuse – Recycle’ Cisco Bronze Award for Collaborative Learning Giuseppina De Petro (Italy) from Liceo Scientifico Statale Galeazzo Alessi, for ‘Twinagers news’ (in collaboration with French school, Lycée Jean Lurçat) Microsoft Bronze Award for eLiteracy Monica Hulea (Romania) from Grup Şcolar “VASILE SAV” for ‘The paradox of choice’.
