home > Media services > News > Spring Day chats with Commissioners Spring Day chats with Commissioners Commissioners Jan Figel’, responsible for Education, Culture and Multilingualism visited the EUN Office on 2 March 2006 to chat with Spring Day schools. He was followed by Danuta Hübner, responsible for Regional Policy on 21 March. The chats are a regular feature in the Spring Day campaign. This year eight further chats are scheduled with key EU figures. On 2 March 2006, Commissioner Ján Figel' answered students’ questions on European sport, education and cultural values. The chat involved 16 schools from eleven EU Member States, candidate and EFTA countries. During the chat, Commissioner Figel’ and his team discussed about sport, diploma recognition in Europe, different educational systems and national curricula. Answering questions on values and human rights, Commissioner Figel’ pointed out: “Freedom is a fundamental value, important for everybody, which should be always used with responsibility.” On 21 March the second chat of the year took place with Danuta Hübner, European Commissioner for Regional Policy. The theme of the chat which involved [number] schools from all over Europe was: Europe's regions and the future of the European Union. Both Commissioners also took part in interviews for the newly launched Spring Day Podcasts which features news about the Spring Day website and interviews with key EU politicians.
