Apple’s donation helps EUN in various projects
Author: EUN News

Apple UK recently made a substantial donation of computer equipment to the EUN Office in Brussels and to EUN’s technical platform in Austria. These included a Power Mac Quad G5 and its 23” flat panel, an Xserve G5 server and 14 iBook laptops made available to EUN for internal use and conferences and workshops.

Already Spring Day 2006 podcasts are produced on the Power Mac G5, one of the most powerful desktop computer available on the market. The aim for the EUN office was to have a fully-fledge multimedia station powerful enough for video, sound and image editing. The first Spring Day 2006 podcast featured an interview with Commissioner Figel’, responsible for Education and Culture and the second will feature Danuta Hübner, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy.

Another donation by Apple features the Xserve G5. This very powerful server will supplement EUN’s technical platform in Austria and will mainly be used for streaming services.

The 14 laptops will initially be used during the eTwinning camp in Lanzarote on 27-30 April 2006, where winners of the eTwinning price are invited to a four-day camp on ICT and school twinning. 20 people from each winning partnership will participate in activities which will include a video and a podcasting workshop.
