Spring Day campaign reaches new heights
Author: EUN News
For the first time in its four-year history, Spring Day in Europe has reached the 7,000 school milestone. The 7,000th to register on the portal is a Romanian school. Spring Day in Europe 2006 is an event for schools to discuss the future of Europe. Many public figures are taking part in the event, in April three more Spring Day chats were held with Michel Delebarre, President of the Committee of the Regions and Franco Frattini, Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security and Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca, Vice-President of the European Parliament.
The 7,000th school is "Scoala cu clasele I-VIIIBuda", located in Bacau in the North East of Romania, registered less than a month after another Romanian school became the 5,000th to come on board.
The registration of the 7,000th school came just three weeks after school number 6,000 - "Svetlina educational and cultural centre” from Sofia in Bulgaria.
Michel Delebarre came to the office on 30 March. The newly appointed President of the Committee of the regions discussed with schools on the theme “Europe in my region and my region in Europe”. The chat was in French.
Franco Frattini, Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security came on 11 April to the EUN Office and chatted with schools on the theme: “What are the needs and expectations of young people?”
The most recent chat took place on 19 April with Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca, Vice-President of the European Parliament. The chat focussed that day on “Energy education: changing behaviours of the future generations”.
As in previous chats, all the hosts took part in an interview with a member of the Spring Day team. Interviews are podcast on the Spring Day 2006 portal.
