New faces in EUN Office

Jean-Noël Colin, Sofia Aslanidou and Ivo Šír joined the EUN Office in April. Jean-Noël is EUN’s Chief Technology Officer. His main responsibilities are to manage EUN’s technical platform and work on EUN’s system architecture and technological development. Sofia’s main responsibilities is to be Insafe web editor, she will also be in charge of the Insafe newsletter. Ivo is mainly going to work for Xplora as a webmaster. The EUN Office also welcomed two new interns: Stella Kefala has joined the Insight team and Alain Niam for the translation team.

Jean-Noël is no stranger to the EUN Office as he previously participated in several projects as a consultant for CELEBRATE and CALIBRATE. At EUN, Jean-Noël will help defining the technological choices for the internal infrastructure and for EUN’s contribution to projects. Jean-Noël has been working in the consulting area since 1998 in fields ranging from finance to telecommunications, from administration to industry. Since 2002, he is focusing on eLearning and Digital Libraries, with a special focus on distributed architecture and Identity Management. He is also interested in Digital Rights Management. Jean-Nöel is also teaching at the Computer Science department in Namur. He holds a PhD and a Masters in Computer Science.

Sofia is of Greek and Swedish origin and previously worked for EUROPE DIRECT as a trainer and responsible of the Knowledge Base of the service. She also completed and internship with the European Commission DG Education and Culture. She graduated in French Language & Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Ivo joined European Schoolnet in April 2006, before that he worked as a web developer, webmaster and system administrator for various organisations in the Czech Republic. He also teached Internet services and web site building. His studies were in ICT, economics and political science. Currently Ivo is working on his PhD in Open Source Software.

Stella joined the European Schoolnet at the beginning of April and she is currently working as a member of the Insight Team. She is particularly helping the team in the Policy strand of Insight. Before joining EUN, Stella completed internships at the European Commission DG EAC and at the European University Association in Brussels. She studied European Politics and Economics in Greece and the completed a Masters in European Institutions and Policy-Making UK.

Alain is currently supporting the translation team on some English-French translations mainly for eTwinning and Xplora portals. He will graduate in translating from ISTI (Institut de Traducteurs et Interprètes) in Brussels and has degrees in socio-economical policy and journalism.
