Peer learning project P2V kicks off in Copenhagen
Author: EUN News
P2V – Peer to Peer networking for Valorisation – had its kick-off meeting on 21-22 February 2007 in Copenhagen. The meeting brought together the nine partners of the project and was hosted by UNI.C, the Danish ICT Centre for Education and Research. The event was organised in conjunction with the Policy and Innovation Committee meeting on 22-23 February 2007.
The aim of the meeting was to draw a roadmap of the tasks and activities planned in the project for the months ahead and distribute the work among the six work packages and the three strands of work: Policy, School Practice and Inspectorate.
P2V aims to apply the peer learning methodologies developed in the P2P project to the topics of media literacy, digital content and new learning environments. Also the aim of the project is to bring in results of other eLearning projects relevant to P2V strands of work and amplify (valorise) the results of these projects as they constitute examples of best practice in Europe.
The meeting started with Roger Blamire, EUN Senior manager policy and practice, explaining the main lines and outcomes of the project and the expectations of the Commission. Valorisation is about disseminating and exploiting the results of projects.
For this, a portal will be created which aims to be the reference point for peer learning in schools. It will contain material, documents tools and best practice examples to support learning from each other, bringing in one place all the wok done by EUN in this area as well as best practice examples from other projects in Europe. To create this portal EUN will rely on its experience in peer learning projects acquired in past peer learning projects such as ERNIST and P2P.
A key decision was to have two core groups working in parallel: one group on policy (work package 4) including France, Lithuania, Catalonia and Switzerland and one group combining activities involving schools and inspectorates (WP 5/6) including Denmark, Austria, The Netherlands, Norway and the UK (Northern Ireland).
Work to carry out peer reviews will be divided among these two task forces and in the months ahead methodologies will be finalised and peer review activities will be carried out.
Activities will include at least six peer learning visits as well as four workshops/conferences for all the partners in the network and outside. The first of these workshops should take place in summer 2007, with the dual themes of peer learning and digital literacy.
Partners in the P2V project include EUN Partnership (coordinator), the Dutch Inspectorate of Education, Regional Training Unit Northern Ireland, the French and Lithuanian Ministries of Education, the Education department of Catalonia, and ENIS school networks in Denmark and Austria. There are two non funded partners: the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and the Directorate for Education and Training Department for Educational Development in Norway.
