US Center for Open and Sustainable Learning visits EUN
Author: EUN News

European Schoolnet received visitors in April from the Center for Open and Sustainable Learning (COSL), Utah State, USA. The COSL, headed by David Wiley, provides tools and support for teachers in using this content, and is part of an international movement to promote the use of open learning content in education throughout the world. The discussion focused around common work and ideas that both COSL and EUN have on the sharing the content and on the tools' development.

Representative of COSL talked about their involvement in supporting OpenCourseWare movement and about EduCommons, a Plone-based CMS build for faculty to share resources. EUN presented its Learning Resources Exchange to the visitors. Both groups have their keen eye on the Web 2.0 tools, namely in the area of tagging and social bookmarking, which provide emerging ideas for digital learning resources. It was clear that the approaches taken by both were complimentary - good ideas and views were exchanged.
