Richard Swetenham, Head of Unit at the European Commission’s DG Information Society, congratulated the winners from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, the UK and the United States and thanked sponsors Vodafone, represented by Annie Mullins and Liberty Global Europe represented by Bert Holtkamp.
Vodafone and Liberty Global offered each winning school a prize of 1,500 Euro for the purchase of ICT equipment for their school. USB bracelets and decorative boxes of delicious Belgian pralines were given to those children who could not attend the ceremony.
The Safer Internet Day 2007 competition was the second international competition organized by the Insafe network in the context of the annual Safer Internet Day event. For next year’s edition, a new competition will shortly be under way, symbolizing Insafe’s will to proactively promote integration of internet safety concerns and media literacy in formal and informal education.
