EMINENT 2007 Conference and exhibition in Brussels
Author: EUN News
EMINENT takes place on 6-7 December 2007 in Brussels. As in previous years, the event allows our partners, stakeholders and networks to meet, make new contacts and discuss common ICT initiatives that foster the development of education in Europe. This year Conference’s theme is ‘Political priorities and evidence-based practice: international perspectives'. Ján Figel’, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Training and Youth is expected to open the event. It is also expected that some government ministers and officials will respond and set the scene for two-days of high level discussions.
It is the 7th EMINENT Conference after successful events in Amsterdam, Lisbon, Stockholm, Geneva, Prague, Paris and last year’s Round Table in Bruges. The two-day Conference will allow for discussions on the driving innovation with ICT and the initiatives, products and support that make innovation in schools happen on a large scale. International cooperation is a major strand of the conference and representatives from a number of international networks will join us and share their work.
The conference will include the eLearning awards 2007 ceremony. Our partners for the conference and awards are Young Digital Planet, Intel, Promethean, Interwrite Learning, Michael and Telefónica O2. Negotiations are currently underway with other industry sponsors willing to join the competition, a highlight in the EUN agenda. For the 7th consecutive year the eLearning Awards are the prime school competition to awards excellence in eLearning and innovation in schools.
We would like to invite you to join us for the exiting two-day programme in Brussels led by well-known experts in the field. The event will also feature the EMINENT 2007 exhibition showcasing national and EUN successes and enable delegates to assess technologies for the future developed by the ICT industry and in European projects.
Among the conference topics include:
- Global school networking: international exchange
- Ensuring equity and widespread e-skills and e-maturity
- Evidence-based practice: tools and practices that work
- Making mathematics, science and technology attractive
- Open educational content in the Learning Resource Exchange
- Emerging safety and responsible use issues in technology.
The site will be opened for registrations as of Monday 8 October 2007 at http://eminent.eun.org. As the conference is by invitation, a password – available from the EUN office: paul.gerhard@eun.org – is required to access the registration form.
The number of places is limited to five nominees for each country represented in the EUN Steering Committee in order to ensure that representatives from international networks and industry can attend.
