Bringing Europe’s 50th Birthday to schools
Author: EUN News
On 3 September 2007, in partnership with the Museum of Europe, European Schoolnet launched the “50 Years Together in Diversity” school competition which aims to raise awareness about European cultural values, the milestones of European integration and the 50 years of unity in diversity.
The competition is intended to enhance and support European citizenship education in schools, in the year when the European Union celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The non-profit association Museum of Europe is chaired jointly by two former Belgian Ministers of State, Ms Antoinette Spaak and Mr. Karel Van Miert, former Vice-President of the European Commission.
The Museum of Europe is a cultural institution with the mission of showing Europeans the roots of their common civilisation, and aims to build a Museum of Europe in Brussels. “It is our history: 50 years of European Adventure” is the inaugural exhibition of the Museum.
