Piotr Mroz, a board member at Young Digital Planet, presented teacher, Emmanuel Zammit, with a crystal trophy, a cheque for € 3,000 and an interactive whiteboard set for his school. 13 schools were awarded in the 2007 eLearning Awards for a total of € 40,000 in cash prizes, equipment and services.

Professor Derrick de Kerckhove, Director of the McLuhan programme at the University of Toronto and President of the Jury, said:

“This site introduces young learners to the e-skills of the European Computer Driving Licence through an engaging storyline mixing fun and learning at the right dosage for beginners. High production values, innovative format and clever didactics make this project the best in all categories.”

The eLearning Awards, organised by European Schoolnet, are one of the leading competitions for schools in Europe, demonstrating how they contribute to the building of knowledge economy.  The number of sponsors in 2007 is the highest in the seven years the awards have been running.

eLearning Awards 2007 partners are Young Digital Planet, Intel, Interwrite Learning, Promethean, SMART Technologies, Apple, Michael, Adobe, Belgacom, Microsoft, SIVECO Romania, Telefónica O2 and UPC.

More than 560 entries from 35 countries were submitted in 2007. To be eligible, entries had to be submitted in one of the official languages of eligible countries (EU/EFTA+EU Candidate/Accession Countries and Israel). A short description of the project had to be given in English, French, German, Spanish or Italian.

In total, € 40.000 in cash prizes and equipment (Digital Whiteboards packages provided by Interwrite Learning, Promethean, SMART Technologies and mentor support as part of the Intel ‘Teach to the future’ program) was awarded to schools in 2007. The winners are as follows:
