Safer Internet Day 2008 Competition
Author: EUN News

Insafe, the European network of internet safety awareness nodes is inviting young people to express their ideas about the facts of online life. The Safer Internet Day 2008 Competition “Life online is what you make of it” launched in October 2007 encourages groups of young people between the ages of 5-19 to tell all about their lives online and compete for attractive prizes.

Contestants in 3 age groups, 5-10 years, 11-14 years, and 15-19 years will mark Safer Internet Day 2008 with their fresh insider views on Information and Communication technologies.

The competition is open to schools, leisure clubs, youth groups, training institutes and other institutions. If you are a teacher, educator or trainer keen on involving a group of youth in an interesting project you still have the time to get involved. Contestants have to register and upload their project between 14-20 January 2008.

Children in the 5-10 years category are invited to create materials in electronic form that can be printed (posters, flyers, comic-strips, post-cards etc). Participants in the other two age categories will create audiovisual entries including but not limited to films, mobile movies, music/songs, video-clips and power-point presentations.

Key dates to remember:
14-20 January 2008: Registration and uploading of projects on the Safer Internet Day 2008 project gallery
21-25 January 2008: Selection of national winners to go on to the European round
1-7 February 2008: e-voting to select global winners
12 February 2008, Safer Internet Day: global winners announced
