European Schoolnet featured at the eLearning conference
Author: EUN News

European Schoolnet was highlighted in several ways at the eLearning Conference.

In his closing remarks Commissioner Figel's Head of Cabinet, Miroslav Adamiš recognised EUN by saying: "We have seen how the European Schoolnet is using the Internet to support co-operation between schools, offering a virtual extension to the classroom and a European community for teachers…the eTwinning action of the eLearning programme is helping to make such co-operation strategic and long-term."

He also singled out the CELEBRATE together with some other projects as a leading example of what has been achieved through EU funding of education and R&D projects. CELEBRATE was mentioned particularly for its achievement concerning content brokerage systems.

At the conference, European Schoolnet also took part in the exhibition with one featuring eTwinning and the other Celebrate.

More on CELEBRATE:
In May, European Schoolnet released a gateway for the CELEBRATE brokerage. It allows users to search and access the content of other repositories of learning resources such as the ARIADNE network of repositories. The connection with this network was demonstrated during the eLearning Conference on 19-20 May 2005.

The gateway uses a specification developed by European Schoolnet (David Massart and Frans Van Assche), the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Erik Duval and Stefaan Ternier), and the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Bernd Simon).
