Meeting on exchange of learning resources
Author: EUN News

On 17 May 2005, representatives from 13 European countries met in the EUN Office to set up a framework to discuss national policy issues on learning resource repositories and to agree on concrete steps towards setting up a pilot network for the exchange of learning resources in Europe.

The framework is built on the achievements of the CELEBRATE project and the experiences being gained in the eColours project.

Representatives presented their national approaches and discussed technical as well as organisational barriers, drivers, and solutions including repository architectures, pedagogical pilots, involving publishers, and copyright issues.

Participants emphasized the need for better pedagogical support for the use of learning resources in the classroom. On the technical site, a blueprint for a pilot on a European Learning Exchange based on the CELEBRATE brokerage system was presented and demonstrated. Further planned developments in the area of semantic interoperability and identity management were discussed.
