Nearly 800 entries were submitted to the eLearning Awards 2005 through the EUN portal before the 19 October deadline. The Awards, now in their fifth edition, aim at identifying and awarding excellent practice in using ICT for learning. The Awards will be presented at a ceremony during the EMINENT 2005 conference in Paris on 8 December 2005.

Projects will now be evaluated by educational experts from all over Europe. Among the key areas evaluated are: production, networking, learning community, content, didactics, pedagogical innovation and transferability.

The principal partner of the awards is Young Digital Poland, a developer and publisher of interactive educational software packages and eLearning technologies. YDP sponsor the top award category for the best use of ICT.

Each of the other partners also sponsor a category of the Awards.  These are: The Intel Award for mathematics and science; The Promethean Award for collaborative use of ICT; The ECDL Foundation Award for use of ICT by a municipal or regional education institution; and The Oracle Award for culture.

Additional prizes include the ARDEMI Award for languages and The Integrator Network Award for special needs. Additionally Scran will award a number of free one-year subscriptions to its online educational and lifelong learning resources.
