UN-EUN event for schools at WSIS Tunis Author: EUN News
The United Nations Department of Public Information in collaboration with European Schoolnet is organising an event for schools in connection with the upcoming World Summit on the Information Society to be held in Tunis on 16-18 November 2005. Mrs Nane Annan, wife of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, will chat with students from France, Cameroon, the UK and Kenya on the internet about the challenges that girls face at the secondary level of education.
The purpose of this event is demonstrate new technologies that can help bridge the digital divide and build understanding between different cultures.
The event will be moderated by Mr Shashi Tharoor, under Secretary General for Communication of the United Nations. About 100 pupils from Tunis and international guests will be able to attend the event on site and contribute to the discussion.
