French MoE appoints new head of ICT in education division

Jean-Yves Capul, a 50 year-old French civil servant, has just been appointed as head of the French Ministry of Education’s ICT in education division. Jean-Yves Capul, who succeeds Benoit Sillard in this position, was previously deputy director of editorial and information resources in the Documentation française, a service directorate of the French Prime Minister which he joined in 2001. He was particularly in charge of content for the following portals: service-public.fr and vie-publique.fr. Additionally, he supervised the launch and the development of a training services website for French civil servants.
At the Documentation française, he has been working with the department for reorganisation and strategic planning from 1999 to 2000. From 1985 to 1998, he also acted as editor-in-chief for the French magazine “Les Cahier français”, published by the Documentation française. He was lecturer for the Institute of Political Sciences in Paris, teaching economy. He also worked as a researcher for the public interest research group on industrial mutations of the CNRS (French national scientific research centre), and was director of the schoolbook series for the French publishing house Hatier from 1992 to 2000.
He holds an ‘aggregation’ in social sciences (a competitive examination to be able to teach in upper secondary and higher education) and is a graduate of the Institute of Political Sciences in Paris.
