European Schoolnet, on behalf of the European Commission, is coordinating the Eurocompetition, an online poster design competition to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the EU's Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). The Eurocompetition - for pupils aged 10-14 living in the euro area and Slovakia – aims to raise awareness of the benefits that monetary union and the euro have brought to European citizens.
The posters on the theme "10 years of EMU and the euro", which are uploaded to the online gallery, should express the participants’ thoughts on what the euro has done for European citizens, what the benefits of the monetary union are and what they think the future holds for the single currency.
Besides the personal digital cameras for each national winner, the overall winner will be invited to Brussels where his/her poster will be presented at a press event in the presence of Mr. Joaquín Almunia, the Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.
