IMAGINE: Increased MAinstreaming of Games IN Learning PoliciEs

There is now a large amount of evidence available to suggest that the use of Games-Based Learning (GBL) can make a positive impact on learning outcomes at all levels of education. However, adoption of GBL by policy makers as a mainstream learning remains limited. The Increased MAinstreaming of Games IN Learning PoliciEs (IMAGINE) will bring together and valorise results from projects and initiatives to date before launching a powerful effort to persuade policy makers in school-based, adult and vocational education to include pilot, multiplier and mainstream GBL in their strategies for implementation.

Major activities of IMAGINE will include the provision of good practice case studies, a directory of existing GBL products and services. The dissemination and exploitation process employed by the project will involve a ‘one-stop-shop’ transversal website for GBL, a series of sectoral round-table workshops for policy makers, industry and other stakeholder, translated policy recommendations and a final conference.

The ‘core’ aims and objectives are to:

• draw together and valorise the results of previous GBL initiatives and projects across the school, adult and vocational learning sectors ;
• use this evidence to influence policy makers’ perceptions and actions to support a marked increase in piloting and mainstreaming of GBL;
• have a significant impact on validating new learning paradigms and strategic thinking on curriculum reform.

The IMAGINE consortium is coordinated by European Schoolnet (EUN) and composed by MDR Partners, University of Ljubljana, Cross Czech, FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH and Süleyman Demirel University.
