STEPS is a project aiming at studying the impact of Technology in primary schools. It is a continuation from a successful survey conducted in 2006 on the impact of ICT in schools in Europe. The STEPS study will provide a comparative analysis on the integration of ICT in primary schools in the EU27 plus Norway, Lichtenstein and Iceland, the first time such a large survey takes place. The project results will give evidence for ICT in primary schools on which to base policy recommendation.
The STEPS consortium The work is carried out by a consortium of European Schoolnet (EUN) and Empirica Gesellschaft für Kommunikations- und Technologieforschung mbH. Additionally a network of experts and national correspondents has been set up, whose role is to give input to the literature review, policy survey and identify good practice in their respective countries.
The final report The final report will consist of three sections: evidence (literature review, quantitative and qualitative data), reports (including 30 country briefs on ICT in primary schools) and examples of good practice (in a searchable knowledge base).
More about STEPS STEPS runs from January 2008 to June 2009. STEPS is a service contract which was awarded to EUN in January by the European Commission DG Education and Culture.
